Hi , I’m Kevin Baird I’m 38 and run my own painting and decorating Business bespoke decor with my brother Derek . I live in Glasgow with my wife Lisa and I started running back in 2014 . Completing my first ever race the Kyles 10 miles 8 weeks after my first ever park run a very slow 35 min (Callander Park Falkirk )in the September of 2014 . Did my first marathon in Manchester 2016 but soon realised it was the trails that I loved more .
My first taste of the ultra scene was July 2016 the clydestride I was lucky to get a relay place with the little running community at sweatshop in Anniesland I had started to do social runs with on a Tuesday and Thursday .
Straight after that I knew I wanted to be part of the ultra community and by the end of 2016 had done my first ultra at glen ogle 33 . 2017 saw me take on Glen Lyon ultra and the Devil o’ Highlands Ring of Steall ,as well as a trip to Switzerland for the E35 race at the Eiger trail .
Why the WHW?
2012 my good friend Terry Addison told me he was “running the WHW race “ my response to him was YOUR WHAT !!! how can you run that my dad walked that in the early 70s in a week . When I got involved in running I soon said to myself one day I will run this race . And after walking it in may over 4 days for Macmillan cancer support I was convinced I needed to try get a place in 2018 . And i am in !!!
Aim for the race?
August this year I started training with Paul Giblin so if anyone can get me ready it’s Paul . Under 24hrs would be fantastic but just to get to the finish will be the main aim .
