I’m John Cassidy, 52 years old and I live in Perth ,Scotland. Work for Perth and Kinross Council in the Organisational Development Team. Interests are music, holidays and running.
First Ultra was the GO33 in 2013, have since done the Fling, Devil and Great Glen. One of my favourites runs so far is the Lairig Ghru race, I’d recommend it to all.
Why the WHW?
A work colleague (Tom Sutherland) really inspired me to push the boundaries when I started running in 2012, and when I spoke about walking the West Highland Way over 5 days, he said “You do know there’s a “West Highland Way race don’t you?” Since that moment…
What motivated you to enter this great race?
Simple…Paul Giblin. We did walk the West Highland Way in 2014, on our last day walking from Kinlochleven to Fort William, Paul passed us around Lundavra, followed a wee while later by Robbie Britton. I knew then I wanted to run the race.
Aim for the race?
To enjoy every step. I know some will be sore, I know some of the climbs will be tough, but that’s what I signed up for. #inabootit
