Bio

I’m 36, but act more like I’m 6. I work in Oil and Gas on an offshore platform in the North Sea; which takes me offshore for 2 weeks at a time before getting 3 weeks off – so I’ll be getting very very well acquainted with the treadmill in the gym!

Ultra History

I took a holiday to Chamonix in August 2014 and spectated at the UTMB, then decided to do my first ultra 6 weeks later… I was a mountain biker before then and had only ever run a half marathon. I figured “how tough can one of these be?!?”, turns out that ‘very’ was the answer!

After that I was smitten with trail running, swapping my bikes for trainers, and haven’t looked back.

Why West Highland Way race?

I crewed for someone back in 2015, and I was overwhelmed by the sense of occasion that the race carries with it (and the friendliness of everyone involved). After seeing everyone get their goblets, I decided that I had to have one of my own.

Aim for the race?

To get my goblet! That’s target #1, but I’d like to finish on Saturday (sub-23h). There are a few more ambitious timing and position targets that I’m aiming for too, but I’ll keep those a secret for now!
