Bio
Edinburgh based fundraiser for Maggie’s Centres, married with a baby due 29th December 2017! Best known for running 50 marathons in 56 days from Amsterdam to Barcelona in 2010, although my wife tells me I should stop feeding off the corpse of that 🙂

Ultra History
I stopped smoking in 2007 and took up running for fun and fitness in 2009, I fell in love with it. Ran across Europe and then ran the d33 in March 2011 and then finished the G2E, Speyside way and some of the other SUMS races. I DNF’d the WHW in 2011 for two reasons, the first I wasn’t ready and I also didn’t want it enough to go through the foil and struggle.

Why the WHW race?

I watched the 2008 adventure show on the race and it’s one of the reasons I started running, never in my wildest dreams would I imagine I’d take part, it seemed insane. As mentioned, I pulled out in 2011 but learnt from it and took some time to gain more ultra experience and was delighted in 2016 to finish the race 5 years after pulling out in 2011!

Aim for the race?
In 2016 I wasn’t happy with my time of 29hr 31m but again I’ve learnt a lot and will be aiming for under 24hrs, cannot wait to be part of this amazing event again!
