Bio

I am 41 and live in Bishopton just west of Glasgow, and I am married with 3 daughters. I work for a large automotive company and travel up and down the UK for my job, the advantage being I get to run in lots of different places, some nicer than others. I have been running seriously since 2016. Last year I was delighted to join Team Pyllon under the guidance of James Stewart, and in the last 8 months I certainly feel my running has improved

Ultra History

I have ran 5 ultras, the first was Glen Ogle in 2016. My first Highland Fling in 2017 was pretty special, however the highlight so far was finishing 9th overall in last year’s Devil O’ The Highlands

Why the WHW?

In my late teens I walked it in 6 days, and as I only live 20 minutes from Milngavie I have spent a lot of time on and around the route. It is a phenomenal part of the country and the idea of running it has appealed for a couple of years. I marshalled last year which gave me a little taste of the magic. What appeals also most though is the amazing and inspiring people involved in the event, from organisers to volunteers to runners and supporters, the ultra community in Scotland and particularly this race, is what is truly awesome

Aim for the race?

The furthest I have ran is 53 miles, so it is a bit of a step into the unknown, but I would prefer not to have to go into a second night, and therefor get to the pub for a celebratory pint before it closes
