Stuart Chalmers

Bio
I’m Stuart Chalmers, father of Rosalind (11) and Alana (7) and married to the understanding Susan. We live in Glasgow. I work in forestry focused on making them great places to walk, cycle, horse ride and of course run.

Ultra History
I’ve completed 28 ultras since 2013. Highlights are completing three Triple Crowns, culminating in my best time in 2016. In 2017 I raced in Transgrancanaria and Dolomiti Extreme which gave me a love of big mountain races. In 2018 I was airlifted after 90km in the Laverado race due to Cardiac Arrythmia. My only DNF. I’m all checked out by specialists and my heart is good (just in case you’re concerned).

Why the WHW?
There’s something special about WHW race. I’m not sure if it’s the variety of terrain and landscape, or the family spirit of the race but I am drawn back for a fourth time. I had a perfect race in 2016. It will be very hard for me to beat my time. But it is that challenge of trying to beat my time that motivates to get up early for training.

Aim for the race?
Perform my best on race day leaving everything I can out on the course and finishing knowing deep down I did my best. Oh, and I’d like to go faster than my 2016 time of 18:50.
