Andrew Jannetta

Bio

I’m 35 and live in central Fife with my wife (Leanne) and 3 kids (Hannah, Megan & Fern). I am a Project engineer in the Oil & Gas industry and work for TechnipFMC in Dunfermline. Although I had completed a few 5/10K’s in my younger years I picked running up in 2015 and by 2016 I’d say I was semi-serious. I’m an active member of PH Racing Club (also Dunfermline based) but my local training grounds are around Lochore meadows and the Lomond hills so mix it up between roads/trails/hills in equal measures.

Ultra History

Decided to sign up for my first marathon in 2016, so naturally I thought I’d make it hard and went for Glencoe marathon.. (Ok, technically not an ultra but as good as) I learnt lots that day..

Since then I have done:

  • 2017 – Glen lyon, Ring of Steall & Glen Ogle
  • 2018 – Highland Fling, Devil of the Highlands, Glencoe Skyline & Glen Ogle
  • 2019 – Highland Fling (Managing to squeeze in under the 9hr mark in 8:59)

Why the WHW?

A 3 time finisher I know once stated “all ultras lead to mulguye (Milngavie)!” And I thought to myself, “AYE RIGHT!”.. but here I am.

Given the size of the task I decided to raise funds for McMillan cancer care, mainly because they are currently supporting one of my parents through their battle with cancer.

If you would like to donate anything to the cause you can visit my just giving site here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/AndyJannetta

Aims for the race

  1. Don’t die
  2. Finish with a smile

Ok, so to put a number on it… I’d be ecstatic with anything under 20 hrs but will settle for a finish. 😊
