This is an important update for all crews. This will affect all crews leaving Milngavie at the start of the race
The A81 which is the main road from Milngavie to Drymen will be closed on Saturday 20th for ongoing road works. This means that crews will not be able to take the usual route to the Beech Tree and Drymen.
There are diversion signs in place.
Getting to the Beech Tree
If you were intending going to the Beech Tree please continue to do so. There will be coffee and bacon rolls on sale. The simplest way to get to the Beech Tree is via the A809. Head out of Milngavie on A809. Continue for approximately 8 miles. Turn right on B834. After 1 mile turn right on A81 and drive 1 mile to the Beech Tree Inn.
The journey is 12 miles and will take you approximately 23 minutes so no need to rush
You can find a link to this route here https://maps.app.goo.gl/8YcSoVg4m5h6PDLF8

To get to Drymen from the Beech Tree continue West along the A81 as you would usually do.
If you are local and familiar with the area you will know that there are local diversions and alternative routes. We don’t recommend these for people who are not familiar with the area.

Getting to Drymen
If you are not intending going to the Beech Tree, and intend going directly to Balmaha or Drymen, then the simplest way is to follow the A809 out of Milngavie and continue on A809 until you reach Drymen.
