All runners have been sent this by email today
We are just a few days away from race day so here are a few reminders and pointers to information to help you make the best of your race.
Registration
Registration is from 9-12. You must bring ID and a support crew member to pick up your number and tracker. This will be strictly enforced.
Race Rules
The race rules are available on the website at https://westhighlandwayrace.org/race-rules/
Please note that the rules around mandatory kit also apply to support runners.
Timing and cut-off information is included in the race rules.
Checkpoints
Cut off info also available in this handy checkpoint guide https://westhighlandwayrace.org/checkpoints/
Please emphasise to your crews how important it is to be respectful of local residents at checkpoints. Without the cooperation of locals the race would not be allowed to take place.
Crews are not allowed at Beinglas and crews are not allowed to meet you beyond Beinglas until the Big Gate at the top of Bogle Glen above Crianlarich.
We have no checkpoint at Auchtertyre this year. There will be a small water/feed station just before you cross the A82 to head to St Fillans and Auchtertyre
Parking for the Tyndrum checkpoint will be in the Muthu hotels on station road just before Real Food Cafe. Please follow directions from marshals. The Tyndrum cut-off has been extended by 15 minutes from the originally published time. The times on the website have been updated accordingly.
Please only use the car parks belonging to local businesses if you are a customer and even then don’t abandon your car for long periods of time.
We are concerned about parking and traffic at Bridge of Orchy so ask crews not to arrive there too early. You will not be allowed to turn right up to the station. There will be marshals managing the road crossing and junction. The checkpoint is just before you cross the main road. Crews should park over the bridge and walk up to the checkpoint. Please don’t park outside the houses of locals.
Drop Bags
If you are not familiar with drop bags, you can send a small bag containing snacks of your choice for you to pick up at checkpoints. You can include other small items such as lube, midge repellent, spare socks, whatever. Ideally no more than 2 litre (A4) sized ziplock bag.
This year you can have drop bags at Balmaha, Rowardennan and Beinglas. At the intermediate locations of Inversnaid, A82 Crossing and Bridge of Orchy there will be an assortment of liquids and snacks available.
Please do not put bottles of water in your drop bag. Water will be supplied.
Your number should be clearly written on your drop bag. Do it at home before you leave, not in the car park.
Trust me, volunteers will not be your friend if you are the last minute Charlie who handed over a flimsy Sainsbury carrier bag with their name written in tiny letters using a biro. This is almost impossible to see through a midge net.
Toilets
There are a number of public toilets en route. All of our checkpoints have sanitary products available, just ask someone in Hi Viz. https://westhighlandwayrace.org/toilets/
Midges
There will be midges. Wear suitable midge repellent and make sure your crew have midge nets.
Tracking
All runners will be wearing a GPS tracker. You can view their progress at https://www.geotracks.co.uk/live/5442
You can follow live results at https://www.sportident.co.uk/results/WestHighlandWayRace/2026/WHW/
SI Entries is offering an SMS service so that friends and family members who are following your progress or supporting you on the event can receive progress updates each time you pass through a checkpoint and at the finish. The cost of this service is £3.50 per phone number. Up to 10 SMS will be sent to each mobile number. To use this service please log into your SI Entries account and update your WHW Race entry to add the telephone numbers.
